Si Ombrellone started writing music before he even picked up an instrument. Never interested in playing other people's music, he started to write, & record original works at the age of 15. By the time he was 17, he began playing the bass guitar in his first working band; an outfit called Solitary Confinement. At that time, he realized that music was what made him feel alive. He then decided that music must be his life, wherever it may lead him.
In the early 90's Si formed Johnny Orange Peel with long time friend, Dave Boccuzzi and drummer Frank Picarazzi. J.O.P.was somewhat of a musical dynamo, writing and playing songs that spanned genres while challenging players and listeners alike. As J.O.P. churned out many original numbers, Si started using a 4 track cassette recorder to capture his song ideas. His first 4 track album, Stranded In Thought, was inspired by this process, and centered on songs that were too far out and didn't make sense for a live show.
